AN OPERATIVE CASE OF MALIGNANT LYMPHOMA IN THE REMNANT STOMACH AFTER GASTRECTOMY FOR GASTRIC ULCER

Malignant lymphoma arising in the remnant stomach is extremely rare that only 43 cases have been reported in Japan. A case of malignant lymphoma in the remnant stomach after gastrectomy for gastric ulcer is reported, together with a review of the 43 cases.A 71-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of epigastric pain. There was a history of operation for gastric ulcer twenty years before. Endoscopic biopsy of the stomach revealed a histological diagnosis of undifferentiated adenocarcinoma of the stomach. A preoperative diagnosis of gastric cancer of the remnant stomach was made. Total gastrectomy, total pancreatectomy and splenectomy were performed. The pathological diagnosis was LSG's diffuse large cell type of malignant lymphoma. after operation chemotherapy was performed. The patient died of pneumonia 1 year and 3 months after operation without any signs of recurrence of malignant lymphoma.
