Cellular imaging in drug discovery: technological advances in fluorescence microscopy for HTS

2004
Performing bioassays in a cellular context can facilitate the drug discovery process at several levels, from basic research that leads to target identification and validation through to screening and lead optimization. The recent emergence of sophisticated mediumand high-throughput cellular imaging technologies such as the IN Cell Analyzer 1000 and IN Cell Analyzer 3000 respectively has helped to make the intricate workings of the cell truly accessible for drug discovery and development. The ability of these instruments to increase throughput in traditionally low-throughput applications is demonstrated by their use in cell proliferation studies and cell cycle position reporting.
