The Study on R-BAR (Rigid Conductor) Characteristics for Developing High-speed Rigid Overhead Catenary System up to 250km/h

The rigid catenary system is mainly applied to the subway and recently studies on the rigid catenary system have been conducted for applications such as tunnels of high-speed line and speed improvement of a convention lines. Especially in overseas, a high-speed rigid catenary system had been developed for maximum speed up to 250km/h and was applied to a commercial high-speed line. Power feeding performance which is most important in a rigid catenary system can be measured by contact force and characteristics of this contact force are related to the shape and material of the R-BAR. In this paper, we analyze the measurements of contact force of a rigid catenary system which was developed in Korea and tested with a single arm pantograph after that we compare static characteristics of home and abroad R-BAR's which have various shapes and materials. Moreover, we also propose the development direction of high-speed R-BAR which is applicable to high-speed line up to 250km/h.
