The relationship between lower extremity atherosclerotic disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver in aged patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Objective To investigate the relationship between lower extremity atherosclerotic disease (LEAD)and non-alcoholic fatty liver(NAFL)in aged patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods According to whether the patients had NAFL,89 cases of aged patients with T2DM were divided into fatty liver group and non-fatty fiver group.The physical examination,biochemical tests and ultrasonic Doppler examinations were conducted in these patients.Results The levels of BMI,WHR,FINS,HOMA-IR,LDL-C and TG increased significantly in fatty liver group compared with non-fatty fiver group(P<0.05).The incidence of LEAD was not different between two groups,but the incidence of more severe LEAD was higher in the group with NAFL.Conclusion NAFL in aged T2DM patients have remarkable dyslipidemia,insulin resistance and severe LEAD.
