Current situation and challenges on the study of dexterous hand

To be acted as the combinative outcome of bionics and robot the dexterous hand has some contour characteristics and functions of human hands.The dexterous hand is the fourth generation of robots;it realizes the simulation of human hand motions by means of the bionic of simulation on the aspects of movement,perception,control,energy and material of humankind.Through the analysis on the achievements obtained in the aspects of dexterous hand at home and abroad it could be transpired that the development of dexterous hand has experienced four stages of early period,initial period,meta period and cross-century period.The dexterous hand is in process of developing increasingly towards the direction of intellectualization of possessing compliant and skillful manipulating functions,and possessing force sense,feeling,vision etc..Challenges will be faced in the future development on the dexterous hands have been discussed.It involves challenges in the aspects of support of interior knowledge-related technology and challenges in the aspects of support of exterior scientific research environment.Aimed at the real status of robot industry of our country and on the basis of using the overseas successful experiences for reference a few constructive suggestions have been given out.
