There is increasing recognition that clinical advice on nutritional issues should be couched in terms of foods and patterns of food consumption rather than percentages of fats, carbohydrates etc. In fact the most consistent findings from prospective studies in >200,000 women (Nurses Health Study) and men (Health Professionals Study) are that two patterns of eating led to large differences in future cardiovascular outcomes.
