Mínima intervención con materiales bioactivos: una alternativa free spray. Reporte de caso

2021
Introduction: Nowadays, minimal intervention dentistry has gained more interest since it provides different treatments such as “free spray” or “free of aerosols” which do not use a hand piece. These treatments present a decreased work-time and decreases children’s anxiety levels as well. Diverse bioactive materials promote bioremineralization of the dental enamel and produce a dentin bridge favoring pulp vitality. The aim of this case report is to describe the performance of an alternative treatment of free spray-minimal intervention with bioactive materials. Case report: A 05-year-old and 05-months-old male child was brought to the dental clinic of the Universidad Cientifica del Sur, Lima-Peru accompanied by his tutor from Puericultorio Perez Aranibar. He presented early childhood caries and uncooperative behavior. Dental treatments were carried out on the basis of minimal intervention philosophy. Teeth 51,54,65,75,85 received bioactive materials through bioremineralization with nanohydroxyapatite and restoration with Filtek flow Z350 composite resin; tooth 74 received indirect pulp capping with Biodentine and restoration with Riva Light Cure glass ionomer; and, in tooth 84 removal of infected dentin and restoration with Riva Light Cure glass ionomer were performed. Clinical and radiographic controls took place in 2 and 6 months after the clinical treatments. Conclusions: The bioactive materials applied in the dental treatments presented good performance considering the clinical and radiographic aspects after 6 months follow-up.
