However, Sanders and Benirschke reported complications up to 16%. Patients may develop soft tissue complications, such as fl ap necrosis and infection of the surgical wound. In addition some patients may require amputation because of the failure of the management of wound infection. Other complications include postraumatic subtalar arthritis and pinched lateral peroneal sheath. Often subtalar arthrodesis requires decompression and relieve symptoms.
