Cystic pneumatosis of the colon: imaging findings including virtual colonoscopy

Abstract Cystic pneumatosis of the colon is a rare condition characterized by the presence of multiple gas-filled cysts within the colonic wall. We report a case of idiopathic cystic pneumatosis of the colon and stress the role of imaging in the diagnosis, evaluation and clinical management of this rare disease. We present endoscopic, endosonographic and CT findings including results of virtual colonoscopy.
