Near-field Over-the-Air Calibration of Phased Array Using Plane Wave Generator

In this paper, we propose a near-field phased array calibration method using the plane wave generator. By predesigning the phase setting matrix, we calculate the true excitations of each array channel by solving the linear equations of signal with the pre-measured scattering parameters between the probe and the antenna under test. A taper function excitation method is used in the synthesis of plane wave generator. The method has similar computational complexity to the far-field single fixed probe method and same performance in determining the inhomogeneities among different array channels. Numerical simulations confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
