Influenza Virus Infection Reduces Cellular Immunity Functions

1989
In recent years, detailed information has been accumulated 1,2,3, that cellular, as well as humoral, immune responses play an important role in the clearing of influenza virus and in the recovery phase of infection. On the other hand, influenza virus, such as many viruses, during the acute stages of infection is able to inhibit cellular immune functions as shown by Reiss, and Rodgers5. Little is known about this mechanism of immunosuppression.
