Parallel shooting and bouncing ray method with virtual divergence factor for fast analysis of scattering from complex targets

2016
An efficient parallel shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) method with divergence factor (DF) correction is proposed for fast computation of scattering from complex targets. A dynamic virtual aperture partitioning scheme, which can achieve excellent load balance, is designed according to the computational time at the previous angle. The loss of DF will degrade the simulation accuracy for the complex targets including curved surfaces. In this paper, a simple and efficient factor, according to the law of conservation of energy, is proposed to play the role of DF. The typical targets are simulated by the proposed algorithm with DF correction, and the results are compared with the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) of commercial EM software FEKO. The accuracy of the proposed algorithm is fully demonstrated by the good agreements between the two results. Moreover, numerical examples show the good parallel efficiency and scalability of the proposed method.
