The effect of the broad-spectrum antibiotics for prevention of postoperative intra-abdominal abscess in pediatric acute appendicitis

Background We investigated the efficacy of broad-spectrum antibiotics for prevention of postoperative intra-abdominal abscess in pediatric acute appendicitis with our 3 risk factors:—WBC > 16.5 (× 103/µl), CRP > 3.1 (mg/dl) and appendix maximum short diameter on diagnostic imaging > 11.4 mm.
