Energy transfer processes in CeF3 single crystals
1993
Abstract The temperature dependences of regular and disturbed Ce 3+ site emission and decay kinetics were investigated in temperature range 4.2 – 300 K with the aim to determine the nature of the energy transfer mechanism in CeF 3 . Mainly from the shape of the decay curves it is derived, that the radiative energy transfer is the dominant one in CeF 3 crystals. The observed shortening ot the regular Ce 3+ site emission lifetime is ascribed to its thermal quenching to the ground state.
