Neutralizing endotoxin effect of Xuesaitong injection.

Objective: To observe the neutralizing endotoxin effect of Xuesaitong injection. Methods: 24 rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: control group (n = 8), injury group (n = 8), treatment group (n=8). The injury group were given endotoxin (1mg/kg) at the 0, 12 h time points; the control group were given injection of normal saline (1mg/kg) instead of the endotoxin; and the treatment group were given Xuesaitong injection (50mg/kg) 6, 12, 18 h time points besides the twice injection of endotoxin (1mg/kg) at the 0, 12 h time points; TNF- α, IL-1, IL-8, PAF concentration were measured at the 24 h time point. The pathological changes were observed under microscope. Results: TNF-α, IL-1, IL-8, PAF concentrations of the treatment group were significant different from those of control group and injury group. Pathology showed Xuesaitong injection intervention group reduced lung and kidney injury. Conclusion: Xuesaitong injection has neutralizing endotoxin effect against SIRS/MODS.
