The Role of Intravascular EEG

1999
In presurgical evaluation of temporal lobe epilepsy, invasive methods of recording are necesary if noninvasive electroencephalography is not conclusive. We describe a technique for recording electroencephalographic activity via an endovascular approach. Recordings were performed with a Seeker-10 microguide. All recordings were compared with simultaneous scalp recording. This semi-invasive method of identifying epileptogenic areas can detect the epileptiform discharges without interferences; it is useful as a complement to invasive techniques such as foramen ovale or depth recording.
