Development of an integrated concurrent design tool for the design of human spaceflight missions

2005
Currently, there are few viable integrated concurrent design (ICD) tools that are available for human spaceflight design. To address this shortcoming, recent work has taken place at Utah State University in the development of a human spaceflight design tool to be used in an ICD environment. This tool will allow a group of engineers to rapidly design a short or long duration human mission to the Moon or Mars. All aspects of a mission architecture can be designed using this tool, ranging from transfer vehicles to surface habitats. The functionality of this tool and potential applications that this tool may have are discussed in this paper
