INFILTRATION STUDIES FOR UNSATURATED SOILS

1995
The primary difficulties in predicting infiltration arise from uncertainties in values for unsaturated conductivity and hydraulic gradient. Measurements on initially dry soils show that the range in infiltration rates is less than expected for the wide range in saturated conductivity studied. Infiltration tests can provide benchmarks for adjustments to values of unsaturated conductivity and soil-water characteristic curves for use in Darcy's Law.
