Mechanical study of Al 7050 and Al 7075 based metal matrix composites: A review

Abstract Materials are the back bone of any nation to develop novel materials with low cost and enhanced properties. Amongst various available materials, aluminium holds a prominent place on the basis of its high stiffness and low density. Many series have been developed in order to meet upcoming challenges in day to day life. Aluminum based composite materials play an important role in various sectors especially in aeronautical and automotive sectors because of their unique characteristics. A comprehensive review of the research carried out on aluminium based composites in the past years. The present work focuses on the mechanical characterization of Al 7050 and Al 7075 alloys based materials. This assessment will enlighten researchers about the various compositions developed so far, and throw light on their properties.
