Remembrance of Things Past and the Path to Digital Tutoring.

2019
This report provides a brief and selective history on the use of computers to teach and the ability of these systems to provide more interactive, individualized instruction than can be provided in classroom settings. It covers the development, application, and effectiveness of three instructional techniques that use computers to provide individualized instruction: programmed, frame-based learning; drill and practice; and digital tutoring, with an example from the latter suggesting a possible breakthrough in this technology.
