Nedaplatin combined with Pacitaxel in treatment of advanced esophageal carcinoma in second line

Objective: To observe the effects and toxicity of Nedaplatin combined with Pacitaxel of second line chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced esophageal carcinoma.Methods: 26 patients of advanced esophageal carcinoma were treated with Nedaplatin and Pacitaxel combination regimen.Nedaplatin was given at a dose of 80 mg/m2 by intravenous infusion in 1st day,pacitaxol was given at a dose of 75 mg/m2 by intravenous infusion in 1st,8th day,with a course of 21 days for 2 courses at least.Results: The overall response rate was 42.3%,the median time to progression was 4.3 months.The main toxicity was hematological toxicity,grade Ⅲ/Ⅳ leukopenia and thrombocytopenia was 26.9%,19.2% respectively.The other toxicities were mild.Conclusion: Nedaplatin and Pacitaxel combination regimen has good anti-tumor action and good toleration in patients of advanced esophageal carcinoma.The sample size would have to be increased to test and verify if Nedaplatin and Pacitaxel combination regimen chemotherapy may prolong the survival of the patients in stage of advanced esophageal carcinoma.
