PHYSIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS IN RICE PLANTS: RESPONSE TOWARDS OF UV IRRADIATION AND CHEMICAL TREATMENT

2013
Research on genetic variation due to the response of plants to Ultra- violet (UV) radiation and chemica l stress for desirable characters creation favorable for developing future approach of crop improvement is discussed. The endeavor has been performed to deter mine the consequence of UV radiation and chemical treatments on rice plants in field conditi on. Effect of UV rays and (30%) hydrogen peroxide (H 2O2) treatment on rice seed towards the physiological alteration of plants is highlighted. Net photosynthesis rate (Pn), Rate of transpiration, the utmost photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm), and Electron transport rate were calculated as the critical physiological parameters. Physical mutagen like UV radiation has exhibited superior effect tha n the chemical treatment conditions in all above characters except for the electron transport rate.
