Reviews On Inertia Emulation Technology With Power Electronics

With the fast growth in the utilization of diverse distributed energy resources (DERs), the widespread implement of power electronic converters poses low inertia challenge on the distributed power system. Virtual inertia control technologies play an important role in attaining low rate of change of frequency (RoCoF) and improving the frequency stability of system. This paper investigates the mechanism and contributions of virtual inertia emulation methods from the perspective of inverter control schemes, the representative works in both virtual synchronous generator and dc-link capacitor virtual inertia control methods are discussed and concluded.
