Clinical effects of AngioJet mechanical thrombus aspiration in the treatment of acute arterial embolization of lower extremity

2018
Objective To investigate the clinical effects of AngioJet mechanical thrombus aspiration in the treatment of acute arterial embolization of lower extremity. Methods The clinical data of 33 patients who were with acute arterial embolization of lower extremity and were treated with AngioJet mechanical thrombus aspiration were retrospectively analyzed. According to the results of intraoperative angiography, the effects of arterial recanalization was evaluated, and the clinical symptoms and signs were observed by follow-up. All patients were regularly examined by color Doppler ultrasonography of lower extremity artery to evaluate its clinical efficacy. Results Thrombectomy was performed successfully in all 33 cases, and no serious complications occurred during and after operation. After 6-24 months of follow-up, examination on 31 patients suggested that the arteries of the lower extremities were unobstructed, and 2 patients had the symptoms of lower limb ischemia again, and no amputation was found during the follow-up. Conclusions AngioJet mechanical thrombus aspiration is safe and effective for acute arterial embolization of the lower extremities. It can quickly remove thrombus and restore limb blood flow, of which the short-term effect is significant. It is necessary to implement further clinical study to confirm long-term efficacy.
