La femoro-rotulea nell’artrite idiopatica giovanile

2008
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a systemic chronic pathology of unknown aetiology that represents the commonest rheumatic disease in patients younger than 16 years. In JIA the knee is the most involved joint at the beginning and during the evolution of the disease. In most cases the entire articulation is involved by anatomo-pathological and functional alterations; more rarely it is observed a prevailing involvement of the patellofemoral joint. In these cases, a precise clinical and diagnostic evaluation, as well as a specific surgical strategy, are able to obtain excellent results in terms of correction of deformities, control of pathology and functional recovery of the affected joint.
