Establishment of Pathology Web Database : Immunopedia

Objective: The aim of this study is to represent the data including the statistics of positivity of bio-markers which were used for cancer diagnosis in order to develop a comprehensive web-based pathology resource. Background: Cancer biomarkers have been used to diagnose cancer and help the doctors decide the cancer treatments. A clinically well-known website, pathopdeia.com, provides the information about the cancer biomarkers, their positivity, diseases, and other pathology resources to pathologists around the world. However, a useful web-based database such as Pathpedia is not available in Korea. Method: Data obtained from the Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) in Korea were collected and extracted by using data mining technique. And then, data were represented in two ways, non-parameter representation and two-parameter representation. Results: The database which contain the name of cancer biomarkers, the degree of positivity of each biomarker, organ name, and other clinical information were set up. This database can provide vital statistical information to the doctors. Conclusion: This study as the first part of three-year project established database which are the essential part of pathology website UI development. Application: The establishment of pathology website in Korea will provide useful clinical information to pathologists, pathology laboratory professionals, medical scientists, and contribute to the enhancement of clinic.
