The Hospital at Night: a pilot study of ENT–urology cross-cover by SHOs

The European Working Time Directive (EWTD) was enacted in UK law in October 1998, as the working time regulations (WTR) describing minimum working requirements for all employees. Although doctors in training were initially excluded, the WTR were extended in August 2004 to include this group.
