Optical properties of aluminosilicate phosphor for lighting and temperature sensing

2019
Abstract Based on consideration that a single phosphor could serve multiple applications, near-ultraviolet ( n -UV) down-convertible Eu 3+ -activated aluminosilicate CaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 phosphor, which can not only apply in phosphor-converted white light emitting diodes ( pc - w LEDs) as a promising narrow-band red emitting phosphor, but also can use as high sensitivity temperature sensing, has been obtained via combustion synthesis. Luminescent investigations reveal the thermal quenching behavior is related with the crossover process from 5 D 0 to the charge transfer state band; The CIE chromaticity coordinates and stable property prove that these phosphors can be good red component for using in pc - w LEDs. Rise time is verified to be temperature linearly dependent in a wide range from room temperature (RT) to 520 K with a high sensitivity, due to the energy transfer (ET) among adjacent Eu 3+ . These findings indicate that the accurate temperature determination can be realized by singly monitoring rise time of the phosphor CASO: Eu 3+ .
