Laser hybrid fabrication of tunable micro- and nano-scale surface structures and their functionalization

2015
Abstract We introduce a novel laser processing-dealloying hybrid approach for tunable surface micro-nano structures. We used a high-power laser to deposit a CuMn alloy layer onto an engineering material surface, then fined its microstructure, and finally introduced a chemical dealloying process. Three kinds of micro-nano structures can be fabricated: nanoporous Cu structure, three-dimensional manganese-based nanoporous structure, and micro-nano hierarchical Cu/Cu 2 O structure. Their dimension is tunable via laser processing and dealloying parameters. The fabricated micro-nano structures show good potential for functionalization on catalysis, superhydrophobic, degradation of methyl orange, surface enhanced Raman spectrum, and catalysis transform.
