RESEARCH ON THE USE OF CATHARTICS IN OPP

2008
Objective To probe into the proper application and necessity of cathartics for patients with organophosphorous pesticide poisoning (OPP). Methods A total of 90 cases OPP patients, who had been carried out gastric lavage, were at random divided into 3 groups. The patients in group A were not injected any cathartics into stomach after gastric lavage. The patients in group B and C were respectively injected 250 ml magnesium sulphate and mannitol into stomach after gastric lavage and the influences on OPP patients'conditions were observed. Results The use of cathartics had significant influence on the condition and transform of OPP patients. The mannitol was better than magnesium sulphate. Conclusion The OPP patients shall use mannitol for purgation, by which the effect is better, side effect is small and also could boost the successful rate of rescuing for OPP patients.
