Inhibition of maturation of Rauscher leukemia virus by amino acid analogs.

Abstract Synthesis of primary precursor polyproteins of Rauscher leukemia virus (RLV) core and envelope proteins occurs in the presence of amino acid analogs canavanine and p-fluorophenylalanine, but cleavage of these precursors is severely inhibited or slowed down. After treatment with these agents, the release of characteristic virus or stable virus-like particles is greatly depressed.
