2006
Objective To investigate the changes of bone mass in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women and the factors affecting bone mass, and to provide evidence for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis of women. Methods Totally, 214 women, who experienced BMD examination in our department and had lived in Guangdong for more than 10 years, were included in this study. Results Bone mass of women decreased from the time of perimenopause, and more quickly after menopause.A faster decrease was found during the first 4-year after menopause than the time after. At the same time, weight and procreative times affected bone mass as well. Conclusions BMD of women decreases from perimenopause, so it would be more effective to diagnose and treat osteoporosis and prevent osteoporotic fracture earlier.
