Flexible fiber-shaped non-enzymatic sensors with a graphene-metal heterostructure based on graphene fibres decorated with gold nanosheets

2018
Abstract Fibre shaped microelectrodes have shown advantages in wearable sensors and implantable sensors for real-time monitoring human health. Herein, we report a novel graphene/gold nanosheet composite fibre (GF/AuNS) prepared by electrochemical deposition, which was used as a fibre-shaped microelectrode non-enzymatic sensor for detection of hydrogen dioxide and glucose. The GF/AuNS microelectrode exhibited excellent performance for the electrochemical detection of H 2 O 2 and glucose with detection limits of 1.62 and 1.15 μM and sensitivities of 378.1 and 1045.9 μA mM −1 •cm −2 , respectively. This flexible fibre shaped microelectrode sensor provides a useful tool for portable and fast detection of H 2 O 2 and glucose, showing great potential as wearable sensors.
