REVERSAL REACTION IN TUBERCULOID LEPROSY

ABSTRACT Leprosy is a chronic granulomatous infectious disease caused by mycobacterium leprae with the skin and peripheral nerves are the most affected organ. Tuberculoid leprosy is a stable form of leprosy and patients usually have fewer than five lesion. Tuberculoid leprosy is also known as paucibacillary leprosy. In the nature of chronic condition of leprosy, leprosy reaction can occurs. Reversal reaction is an acute episode of leprosy are thought to represent episode in which cell mediated responses toward M.leprae are changed. It was reported a case of tuberculoid leprosy according to his-topatology, but clinically appropriate to multibacillary leprosy. The patients was under reversal reaction during multy drug treatment for multibacillary leprosy. Therapy with MDT-MB, prednisone, and neuro-tropic gave good result.
