Rack and pinion steering device

2005
The present invention provides a rack and pinion steering device which is capable of a reaction, such as flashback or flutter, effective to reduce, while a high degree of design freedom is ensured. The sum of the inclination angle of the rack teeth with respect to a to the axial line of the rack vertical reference line and the tilt angle of the pinion tooth, with respect to the axial line of the pinion shaft does not coincide with the angle of inclination of the axial line of the pinion shaft with respect to the reference line. The tooth surface of the rack tooth (or the pinion teeth) in the direction of the edge line is convexly formed to corresponding to the contact with the opposite pinion (or the rack gear) at one end to increase the tooth width in the direction of the edge line and to reduce the tooth width at the other end.
