Study on the Status Quo of Rural Clinics in Shaanxi Province

Objective: To probe into the status quo of rural clinics in Shaanxi province,so as to provide reference to strengthen the construction of rural clinics and improve the service ability of rural physicians.Methods: Using multistage sampling processes,a field survey including 60 rural clinics,1386 prescriptions and 74 rural physicians in Shaanxi in 2008 is carried out,analyzing indexes include the condition of rural clinics and physicians,the structure of patients,diagnoses of disease and drug use by descriptive statistical method.Results: Low quality and the imbalance in sex and age structure in rural physicians are significant.Patients who visited rural clinics were mainly young adults.Respiratory diseases and digestive disease are main dieases among those patients in rural clinics.Some prescriptions were nonstandard written out.Conclusions:the measures that should be taken into action are as follows: strengthen the qualities of rural physicians by regular training;pay attention to the preventive and health protection of common diseases and frequent diseases;improve and perfect diagnostic and treatment norms.
