Basic Instrumentation and Troubleshooting

Since its introduction in 1987 laparoscopic cholecystectomy has irrevocably changed general surgery. New techniques have been introduced into the operating room which all surgeons today are expected to know. It is imperative that surgeons in training thoroughly comprehend laparoscopic procedures, equipment, and instrumentation so that they may resolve incipient intraoperative problems in a timely fashion (see Table 1).
