We read with interest the systematic review on the incidence of thyroid malignancy in patients undergoing thyroidectomy for hyperthyroidism.1 Varadharajan and Choudhury reported a malignancy rate of 8.5%, postulated potential underlying mechanisms and proposed routine preoperative imaging in these patients.
