Effects of budesonide combined with acetylcysteine on airway inflammation in patients with acute asthma attack

2019
Objective To investigate the clinical effects of budesonide combined with acetylcysteine on patients with acute asthma attack. Methods One hundred and eight patients with acute asthma attack admitted to Yuzhou People’s Hospital from April 2016 to October 2018 were selected. And they were divided into two groups by random number table method, with 54 cases in each group. Patients in control group were treated with budesonide, while patients in observation group were treated with budesonide combined with acetylcysteine. The changes of airway inflammation, pulmonary function and immune function were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the postoperative levels of airway inflammatory factors of the observation group were lower, on the contrary, the levels of FVC and PEF in pulmonary function indexes were higher after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, CD8+ of the two groups was decreased, while CD3+ , CD4+ , CD4+ /CD8+ were increased; and the changes of the observation group were significantly greater than those of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions Budesonide combined with acetylcysteine can effectively reduce airway inflammation, improve pulmonary function and immune function, and promote the prognosis of patients with acute asthma attack. Key words: Acute attack of asthma; Budesonide; Acetylcysteine; Airway inflammation; Lung function; Immune function
