Achieving Parity for Transgender Health Insurance Coverage in a University Setting: The University of Vermont Example

Abstract This brief report summarizes the process used by the University of Vermont to obtain transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage from their insurer, and the subsequent positive changes in Vermont state law regarding transgender health insurance coverage. The role of universities as change agents and applicability of this process to other universities are briefly discussed.
