The effect of gypenosides to antioxidative stress enzyme in the epidermis of photo-damage's mice.

2010
Objective To observe the effect of cream gypenosides with different concentration on the enzymatic activity concerned with oxidative stress on photo-damage.Methods Six groups of photo-damage′s model mice were set up and the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px),glutathione reductase (GR) in its epidermis were measured with visible spectrophotometry and ultraviolet spectrophotometric methods. Results The levels of SOD,CAT,GSH-Px and GR in Balb/C mice′s epidermal tissue of 1.5% gypenosides group were higher than those of the UVB group (P0.05).The significant different level of SOD,CAT,GSH-Px,GR was not observed between 1.5% gypenosides group and the vitamin E group. Conclusion 1.The levels of SOD,CAT,GSH-Px and GR in mediated photo-damage mice increased after topical 1.5% gypenosides treatment. The anti-oxidase effect of 1.5% gypenosides is similar to that of vitamin E.2.The topical application of 1.5% of gypenosides has the protective effect on UVB mediated skin damage. The protective mechanism may be related to the eliminating the free radicals and increasing the levels of SOD,GSH-Px,CAT,GR to inhibit the oxidative damages caused by UVB.
