The effects of domestic diode laser on the treatment of refractory glaucoma

Purpose To assess the therapeutic value of domestic diode laser appliance on refractory glaucoma.Methods 13 cases(13 eyes) with refractory glaucoma were treated with transscleral cyclophotocoagulation using semi-conductor diode laser appliance made in China. All of them were followed up over 4 months.The changes of IOP and oculi were observed. Results The IOP of all eyes tended to decrease after coagulation.The degree was related to the total energy of the laser in ciliary body,but did not relate with the sex, the age and the laser position.The local reaction of oculi was slight and without complications or atrophy. Conclusion Domestic semi-conductor diode laser appliance can reduce IOP of eyes with refractory glaucoma effectively and safely. It possesses a stable performance and an easy operation and the same effect copmared with the importations.
