Corticosteroid resistance and resolution of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic progressive systemic diease,thought to result from an enhanced chronic inflammation in the lungs.Although corticosteroids have a therapeutic role in chronic inflammatory lung disorders,its effect on the inflammation in COPD patients is controversial,which may be related to corticosteroid resistance.Therefore,to study COPD inflammation and the mechanism of corticosteroid resistance is important for prevention and treatment of COPD.
