Study on Optimization of Setup Time for Products in Multi-Product Production System

Abstract Consumers' consumption habits are more and more personalized and diversified, which makes the multi-product manufacturing system widely used in factories. This brings a difficult problem to a large number of manufacturing enterprises: how to optimize the setup time between products to achieve the purpose of reducing the waste of time. Based on this problem, this paper proposes the TCP product setup time optimization technology, that is, using the Times Series model, Clustering Algorithm and the Parallel Job technology in the Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), to form a set of application technical framework focusing on optimizing the product setup time. The validity of the method is verified by a case study. This paper enriches the research field of setup time optimization, production planning, and clustering algorithm in the optimization of a multi-product manufacturing system. It provides a new way for manufacturing enterprises trying to improve time efficiency
