Expression of eIF4E mRNA in breast invasive ductal carcinoma and its significance

2011
Objective To investigate the expression of eIF4E mRNA in breast invasive ductal carcinoma and its significance. Methods Using the technology of in situ hybridization to detect the expression of eIF4E mRNA in the 30 cases of breast fiberoadenoma and 54 cases of breast invasive ductal carcinoma respectively. Results The positive expression rate of eIF4E mRNA in breast fiberoadenoma and breast invasive ductal carcinoma were 53.33%(16/30)and 92.59% (50/54) respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups ( P < 0.05 ). The positive expression rate of eIF4E mRNA in breast invasive ductal carcinoma with lymph node metastastic group[100. 00% (33/33)] was higher than that with non-lymph node metastastic group [80. 95%(17/21)], there was significant difference between two groups (P<0.05). Conclusions It might indicate that the abnormal expression of eIF4E mRNA could participate in the occurrence and metastastis of breast invasive ductal carcinoma. Key words: Breast invasive ductal carcinoma;  In situ hybridization;  eIF4E
