Air quality assessment in coal seam gas regions of the Surat Basin, Australia

2017
Data from Australia's first comprehensive air quality measurement program in an intensive coal seam gas (CSG) region is now available online for anyone to livestream. CSIRO, through the Gas Industry Social and Environmental Research Alliance (GISERA), is leading a study which includes collection of air quality measurements through a network of five ambient air quality stations in the Surat Basin, near Chinchilla, Miles and Condamine in South Western Queensland. Pollutants measured include carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone, PM2.5, PM10, total suspended particles (TSP), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Hourly CO, ozone, NO2 and PM data is streamed live to the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP) website.
