Systemic Therapy for Chondrosarcoma

2021
Chondrosarcoma subtypes differ in clinical presentation, prognosis, and response to therapy. Diagnosis and treatment should be managed by multidisciplinary teams in sarcoma referral centers. Surgery represents the most effective modality for localized chondrosarcoma. In the setting of recurrent or advanced disease, current systemic therapies are relatively effective in only few subtypes including mesenchymal and dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma. Further research into the pathophysiology and genetic drivers of this disease will inform about future drug development for advanced stage chondrosarcoma.
