Experience of a Complex Study of Overhead Transmission Lines

2002
The experience of a complex investigation of overhead transmission lines after long-term operation is generalized. Components of the considered transmission towers (ground structures, U-bolts, earth loops, metallic pole supports, ground wires) are exposed to the corrosive effects of the ambient, which cause a gradual decline of their strength characteristics. Dangerous corrosion wear of the ground structure has been detected on a small number of towers. Corrosion of the ground wire has reached dangerous values for all the studied poles. The highest damage in underground structures is caused by electrocorrosion.
