SAVE THE MENISCUS

2011
Medial and lateral meniscectomy are the most frequent surgical treatments in orthopaedic surgery. Residual pain and swelling are not so rare after these surgical procedures. Meniscal allograft transplant is up today considered as a valid option in decreasing knee symptoms in these patients. The surgical technique is reproducible, and probably allows to avoid a rapid osteoarthritic evolution (more studies are necessary to prove it). The surgical technique is arthroscopic assisted and allows only mini-skin incision. Early results are very interesting and encourage us to study and to increase experience in this field.
