A case of chronic appendicitis

2012
The diagnosis of acute appendicitis depends on the patient’s history, and the basic clinical and laboratory fi ndings. Many surgeons prefer the surgical removal of the infl amed appendix, even if the diagnosis is only suspicious. However, one third of the patients have atypical symptoms confusing the diagnosis. In such cases the removal of the appendix is delayed or even not performed3. In contrast, earlier diagnosis and operation may prevent the spread of the infl ammation and avoid the development of the related complications.
